Illing Seeds is an independent agricultural seed supplier specialising in the trading and distribution of tropical and sub-tropical pasture seed, temperate grasses, legumes and forages.
For over thirty years the Illing family have been in the agricultural seed industry and have developed a reputation for
quality seed, their personal integrity and their professional service.
After growing up on a sheep and cattle station in Western Queensland and attending school in Toowoomba, Tony was employed by Selected Seeds Pty Ltd at Pittsworth as a Pasture Advisor and a Grain Trader specialising in pulses and dahls. Over the next 15 years he provided farmers and graziers with agronomic advice and grain marketing options until becoming Manager of what was then the largest processing plant and trader of pulses and pasture seed in Queensland.
In 2004, Tony joined his father's company David Illing Pastures Pty Ltd to help continue to provide farmers, graziers and the resource industries with quality seed and agronomic advice. In July 2006, Tony and his wife Cheryl purchased the company and relocated the business to its present site in Toowoomba and now trades as Illing Seeds. Illing Seeds remains a family owned company specializing in tropical, subtropical and temperate pasture seed. Tony now has over 25 years experience in the seed and grain industries at both an international and domestic level and is a past president of the Tropical Grassland Society of Australia.
Originally from the Riverina in South Western NSW and then the family farm in the South Burnett, Queensland, Cheryl has had a close association with agriculture over many years. Prior to purchasing Illing Seeds, Cheryl held sales and administrative positions in the meat, livestock and seed industries.
Cheryl has developed an extensive knowledge of sub-tropical and tropical grasses over the last 10 years specialising in the coastal region from the Northern Rivers, NSW to the coastal areas of Central Queensland. Prior to joining Illing Seeds, Cheryl was the Office Manager at Selected Seeds Pty Ltd and it’s subsidiary Selected Pulse Foods Pty Ltd, exporters of pastures, pulses and dahl’s. During this time, Cheryl gained valuable experience in the quality control and export documentation processes.
